Opportunity

Organize Florida and Organize Florida Education Fund seek a highly motivated, talented, and dynamic individual to serve as the Regional Director, Central Florida. The Regional Director, Central Florida is responsible for engaging members in political and issue based campaigns and overseeing ongoing issue campaigns for the organizations, including the Fight for 15 and Climate Change work, Standing With Women & Families among others. They will ensure the achievement of short and long term goals for the organization, both programmatically and financially. This position also serves on the organizations Core Leadership Team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic campaign plan for local and state campaigns that promote the vision and mission of the organization;
  • Develop and implement comprehensive plan for membership recruitment, engagement, and leadership development of members;
  • Manage and motivate the team of organizers for the issue-based campaigns;
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Vice President of Operations and Executive Director & Co-Founder to ensure programmatic and campaign goals are being met;
  • Work with Political & Civic Engagement Director to build relationships with local partners as they relate to specific campaign plans;

Key Qualifications

We are seeking a seasoned social justice leader with strong references who is interested in growing the organization into a credible powerhouse organization in the Central Florida area. A successful candidate must believe in the core values of Organize Florida and be driven by its mission. The ideal candidate should have at least 3-5 years of organizing experience, experience organizing in coalition with grassroots, political and labor allies, strong writing skills, and experience in fundraising. The Sr. Leadership Development Manager is responsible for developing leadership programs for community members, organizational members and staff. They will oversee ongoing leadership development opportunities and programs including, Leadership Academy.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage Leadership Academy development from beginning to end to ensure consistent implementation in all offices.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of all leadership development programs, including administration and logistics.
  • Work with the Program Design & Data Director to develop strategic program plans, progress reports, proposals, required documentation, and presentations on current and potential programs.
  • Build, develop, and grow any relationships vital to the success of our programs to ensure long term program sustainability.

Key Qualifications:

  • At least 1 - 3 years experience in leadership development activities and programming.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to determine informational needs, to collect and analyze information, and to devise and develop statistical analyses and reports.
  • Knowledge of current leadership development trends in the area of social justice.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.

  • Social Media Engagement: Support Organize Florida’s social media by monitoring the performance of each account; coordinate with other staff as appropriate to ensure regular content updates; implement strategies for increasing engagement of both members and activists.
  • Contact Management: Manage email list and updates, and other automated communications and data management systems to track and maximize engagement of activists and dues paying members.

Opportunity

Organize Florida is seeking to hire a full-time Organizing Director, Orlando to manage Organize Florida's work across issues and strategic campaigns in the Orlando region. The Organizing Director is responsible for all aspects of a sophisticated organizing program that includes member-based issue campaigns, electoral work and political leadership, and overall civic engagement work. The Organizing Director will work closely with the Executive Director, Sr. Vice President, Community Organizers and other key leaders within the organization and community to both build and implement Organize Florida campaign activities. This position also serves on the organizations Core Leadership Team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervise, support and mentor Community Organizers to promote their individual and collective growth and success.
  • Support Community Organizers to implement multiple large-scale public events, running issue committees and membership planning meetings.
  • Support robust leadership development programming for Organize Florida members.
  • Coordinate a suite of organizer trainings for Organize Florida staff and member leaders.
  • Support the statewide expansion of Organize Florida’s base of active leaders.
  • Coordinate efforts to build Organize Florida’s membership and base-building canvass.

Qualifications

  • At least three to five years of experience with voter engagement, electoral campaigns, power-mapping, issue-based campaigns, community organizing, civic engagement strategy, and leadership development.
  • Two to three years of management and/or supervision experience within a grassroots community organization.
  • At least two years of experience as a community-organizing trainer and/or electoral organizing trainer.
  • Knowledge of data and tracking systems within community-based and electoral organizing, including knowledge of VAN.
  • Familiarity with Florida’s political landscape and electoral/legislative process.
  • Demonstrated experience working within low-income communities of color.
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural, multi-gendered, multi-sexed, and multi-racial settings.
  • Ability to deliver both numbers-based and leadership-based results in a fast-paced and self-directed environment.

  • Maintain high caliber data collection. Ensure that voter registration drive is accurately registering voters and maintaining the highest standards of integrity, form completion, and data quality.
  • Coordinate with other members of the team to help as needed. When form collection gets busy, you know how to delegate tasks to make sure everything gets done.
  • Provide regular feedback to organizers. You are in constant contact with Field Team about form quality to ensure that Organize Florida hits the highest standard possible.
